Kinetics and Mechanism of Hydrogen Reduction of Lead-Silicate Slag

Abstract A systematic study on the microstructure evolution and kinetics analysis of PbO–SiO 2 slag reduction using hydrogen was conducted. The carried out pellets (70 wt pct PbO–30 SiO ; or 38.6 mol PbO 61.4 ) 15 pctH /85 pctN gas, with a flowrate 500mL/min for various reaction time (30 minutes to 3 hours) isothermally at 300 °C 700 °C. mechanism were assessed by measuring weight loss over applying models data; supported detailed samples characterizations. results from observation show viscous blackish glass structure formed when above softening point (glass transition temperature). This appeared reduce overall rate. shows that be diffusion-controlled process. activation energy, E , calculated 70.7 kJ/mol temperature range 500 °C; while between found decrease increasing due formation glass. These suggest complete in industrial process, glassy state should avoided.
